Stainless steels are iron-based alloys containing a minimum of 10.5% chromium, which creates a passive corrosion-resistant layer. The 300 Series austenitic stainless steels are the most widely used due to their excellent corrosion resistance and strength maintenance at high temperatures.
The "18-8" stainless steel (18% chromium, 8% nickel) is the most versatile grade used globally. 304L is the low-carbon version, ideal for welding as it eliminates carbide precipitation.
Molybdenum-bearing austenitic steel providing superior resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments. Ideal for heavy-gauge welded components and marine applications.
